Requirements for training your dog:
(1) The first thing you will require is a shipping crate, it should be of adequate size in order that your pug doesn’t undergo any type of difficulty to stand up and turn around.
(2) Secondly you should select a suitable “potty area” for your puppy.
(3) To pick a proper “Potty Word”.
(4) To choose favorite snacks for your puppy is most important.
(5) A non ammonia cleaner required for any accident spots. If you can find one that is made specifically for pets, they are the best. You must be able to get one which is called "No Go". You can get this from pet stores or catalogs.
(6)You must have a proper schedule to know your pugs needs.
(7) Time and patience is the significant thing you will require besides all the above mentioned points.
The type of crate and its significance which you will require is defined below :-
If you can get the molded, fiberglass type of crate used when shipping by air that is the most excellent type. This will become your dog's "den" and - believe it or not - he will grow to admire it. Your dog will remain in his crate at all times when you are not giving him your complete attention.
The most important feature you should keep in mind is to purchase a standard sized pug dog crate so that your dog can move freely in it. It is also essential to buy a crate divider because it reduces the size of the dog crate's "living" area while house-breaking pug puppies. It allows just enough room for sleeping.
You must have a proper schedule for your dog since it helps to meet your dog’s needs. The schedule must be designed by noticing daily the habits of your puppy.
When your pugs crate door is opened, hold your dog up and carry him to the location of your yard that will be the "potty area". You must always take him to this similar place for potty time. Take a favorite snack of his with you, it could even be the hot dog.
It is necessary to accompany your dog when you take your dog outside for potty. From starting it is important to teach your dog his “potty time” so that he can understand his ideal timing for potty nothing else.
Once the puppy starts relieving, select a word for potty. Acquaint him with that word so that every time you say that word, he must go out immediately. Whenever you think that the puppy is learning it, utter the word pleasantly and praise him for the successful completion of the job.
When he completes, offer him a "snack" and admire him copiously! Take the pug puppy back inside for food, playtime, etc. Keep in mind to take him back outside after food or playtime. After twenty minutes, it's back in the crate for both relax and reinforcement. Carry on this cycle until the evening.
As pups have the tendency to go for potty and urinate after food so it is recommended not to give food and water to them after 10:00 p.m. It is also suggested to provide warm bedding to the dog’s crate and before you go for sleep set it up in the bedroom near you.
(I have found that a cold puppy is soon a "wet" puppy.) Most pups will settle in fairly well if they are close to your bed. When the pup wakes up in the morning, he will kick up a fuss to go out. Keep in mind your areas and treats!
